VCM2 - Virginia Control Module from Virginia Transformer Corporation

VCM-2

The VCM2 is a transformer monitoring module developed by Virginia Transformer. It will read, analyze and transmit all parameters of a transformer;

•         Oil Temperature

•         Winding Temperature

•         Pressure

•         2 Additional WTI –
         for 3 Phase SWTG
•         Ambient Temperature
•         Data Log

CONTROL: can activate the following signals based on the Set Points of the
devices measured;

Temperature Control

•          Fan stage 1, Fan stage 2

•          Alarm

•          Trip

          Oil Level Control

•          Lo Switch

•          Lo Lo Switch

•          Hi Switch

Pressure Control
•          +9 PSI Switch
•          +0.5 PSI Switch
•          -7 PSI Switch
•          SPR Seal in Relay Alarm
•          PRD Activation Alarm

The VCM2 provides alarms to alert any abnormal conditions using a Built In,
12 point annunciator and any changes are displayed on screen. This screen is
available locall on the device and can also be accessed on your computer
(remotely). It allows the user to access and download the data for analysis.

The analog display for local indications of gas space pressure, oil level and the oil
temperature is maintained using VTC standard gauges that do not have contacts.

Set Points can be changed remotely.

COMMUNICATION:

The VCM 2 has a RJ45, Ethernet Port, Communication/Programming Port and this
port allows for the following:
 Touch Screen Monitor
•          Ability to change Set Points
•         See recorded values
•         See actual alarms activated

Non-Volatile Memory

·         Stores recorded values over time

USB Flash Memory

·         Download data from memory

The collected data for analysis is elevated to the highest level of reliability

by:

•           Using solid state sensors and contacts

•           Allowing field programming of set points to accommodate varying

          operating conditions

•           Integrating all the parameters and providing local annunciation of

          all data and status of set points.

The VCM eliminates the need of contacts and switches for the following:
•           Pressure Vacuum Gauge
•           Liquid Temperature Gauge
•           Liquid Level Gauge
•           Pressure Relief Device
•          Winding Temperature Gauge

It incorporates the functions of the winding temperature gauge and the Seal In
Relay function for the Sudden Pressure Relay and pressure switches.

SUMMARY

This achievement in automation means monitoring and making adjustments

to a unit is easier than ever before and can done on screen.

Additionally, the VCM2  provides data that correlates to necessary and

preventative maintenance and service, in essence, avoiding problems before

they occur. Meaning, the VCM2 directly contributes to the life of a

transformer.
